THE GRAND BREWERY TOUR

HERBERT’S YARD – A street food delight + Attic Brew

This one’s a little different as Herberts Yard is more focused on the best street food The Midlands has to offer. But stick with us, because they do also serve some local craft beers too!

We had a birthday to celebrate so were looking for somewhere a little different and of course wanting some good food and treats along the way! This led us to Herberts Yard. This is a now permanent fixture from the guys that brought us Digbeth Dining Club (if you’re not from The Midlands, this was a regular pop-up environment for amazing street vendors to gather together and put on an ace display of food and drink from around the world!) Having now found a permanent location, Herberts Yard was born.

They usually have around 8-10 street food traders at any one time, which means there is always a cracking choice! These aren’t just any traders too, they have been hand selected over the last 10 years of running dinning clubs, so really are the best The Midlands have to offer.

They change regularly, so make sure to check out their Facebook and website to see what’s on any particular weekend. We were definitely spoiled when we were there, with treats from @leaveittoesmie, @streetsouvlakibrum, @goodfoodcartel, @syioklah, @cookie_mumsters, @sbcurryclub, @mr_noodle_bristol, @discofries_uk,

Onto the drinks, they have a great bar, stocking all the classics, but as I say they also stock a few local craft beers too. When we were there we were treated to a few on from Glasshouse Brewery, which is based only a few miles down the road. We all enjoyed a few of them! There are drinks for the whole family too if you’re not into the beer, with wine on tap! Also a great spirit collection, a few cocktails and a wide choice of soft drinks too.

If your there for the food, there is a large car park within the retail park which gives a couple of hours free, but if you want a drink too, its conveniently located only a 5 minute walk away from Longbridge Train Station. This leads us onto our next venue…

Just a couple of train stops heading back towards Birmingham and you land at Bournville, where one of our favourite brewery taproom is located, Attic Brew. About a 60 second walk from the station and you’re into the heart of the taproom, which is usually buzzing!

They have a great range of their own brews, collab beers, as well as a fully stocked bar.

Attic Brew have regular street food vendors here as well as hosting many different events throughout the year, from bands, Craft Workshops, Brewery Collabs, comedy night etc. So is a must visit if you’re in the area! Again check out their social media and/or website to stay up to date with what’s going on.

If you really want to go on a craft beer tour, you can’t go wrong around Bournville and Stirchley, with a selection of great bars and breweries all within walking distance from each other and the train line it really is a beer lovers paradise. (We haven’t even hit them all yet, so keep an eye out for more reviews coming soon)

For us this is a local haunt, so always tend to get public transport. There aren’t any local campsites so to fully enjoy what’s on offer it’s well worth parking up out of the city and travelling in. (If you do know of any good overnights, please feel free to share them 😊)

Cheers all!
