So we popped along to the Pup & Duckling to check out the award winning micropub (CAMRA Solihull pub of the year 2023) which although we had heard about and is very local we had never actually been to.
What a little find! Great little bar and very welcoming with friendly local customers and a great guy behind the bar that we believe to be the owner.
A good selection of real Ales, beers, ciders and gins mainly from localish breweries and after chatting with the bar man they have now taken over the upstairs of the premises so will be brewing their own again and expanding (used to brew before covid) so we will definitely be popping back to sample these. Also a good selection of cans/bottles from abroad such as some of our favorites from Belgium and some more unusual one from further afield. They also offer in-store collection if you fancy taking some home or camping!
If you are in the area or visiting the NEC pop in and pay them a visit, just a short 10 minute journey from the NEC or 15 minutes from the city centre. Seating inside and outside and of course dog friendly! Plenty of parking outside if you can get a designated driver, but not really anywhere for overnight stays as it’s residential.
Also one nice feature that should be available at more places is the pub ran quizzes to raise money to fit a defibrillator outside the pub that is now accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Great work guys!
