THE GRAND BREWERY TOUR

Ross Cider – ROSS ON WYE CIDER & PERRY COMPANY

As it’s currently cider weather, it’s good timing for our blog from our time at Ross Cider.

Over the bank holiday weekend Which also collides with one of our admins birthdays (Jonny) we stayed at The Yew Tree, Peterstow.  Their camping field lies adjacent to the pub, and is the home to Ross Cider. There are only a few pitches but with electric, a decent shower and couple of toilets it did us perfectly for the weekend.

Ross cider is a traditional cider maker using directed natural fermentation. And always have a selection of still and carbonated cider and Perry on tap as well as a vast bottled selection!

They also offer a range of other drinks too, most noticeably was a few offerings from the local Deya Brewery. It’s one of our favourites and we were birthday celebrating so we did sample a few of these too with a sweet treat from Doughnutz🤣🤣🤣

You can enjoy a tipple at the bar, the inside space is only small but there is a large garden with covered tables too which is where we spent most of our time!

You can also visit the shop to get a full range of there creations, which you can enjoy on-site, take back to the van or take away with you.

There is food offered Wednesday-Saturday (although this may change) We enjoyed a great pizza a garlic bread on the Friday when we arrived! 🍕

We sampled a lot of the cider on offer over the weekend, and one that we all kept going back to was ‘Suzie Wong’ (named after one of the orchard cats) It would probably suit most palates and had only a little sweetness to it. We all brought a bottle back with us!

They also offer a flight, again which we all had 🤣 this was a great way to try a few different options!

This is a great base, and if you like your cider you could easily spend a whole weekend here without moving, but if you fancy seeing the local area, there are some walks direct from site and a bus stop right outside which takes you direct to Ross On Wye.

We did manage to tare ourselves away from the cider for a day and explored Ross, which is a lovely river town, with plenty of shops and of course a few good bars to explore too!

This really is a cider lovers dream, and even better it’s only a short stumble back to your pitch after 1 too many 🤣 perfect for a few days away from it all!
