THE GRAND BREWERY TOUR

Sheppy’s Cider Farm – Three Bridges, Bradford-on-Tone, Taunton TA4 1ER

Mixing it up this week for anyone who likes a good cider.

As the weather is starting to improve (slowly) we look to them summer evenings sipping a refreshing cider in the fading sun. There are few Cider Farms around with excellent tap rooms and one we’ve become aware of this week is Sheppey’s Cider Farm, just outside Taunton.

They produce a variety of different ciders ranging from 4% up to 7.5% with multiple flavours and styles to suit everyone’s taste. These can be sampled onsite or purchased in the shop to enjoy at home or around the evening’s campfire!

If cider isn’t your thing, they are proud to support other local businesses too, stocking 6 O’CLOCK GIN which has its roots in Bristol and Quantock Brewery, based only a few miles away (both also worth a visit!) to name but a few!

Its not all about the drinks here though, as there is an onsite cheesemonger!  An ideal opportunity to stock up and pare the right cider with perfect cheese!

There is so much more to do on site here with a Cider Museum, Farm Shop, Deli, Butchers and The House of Cider Bar Restaurant and Café, selling a variety of local specialities. It doesn’t stop there, as I’m sure a bit if fresh air will be needed after all that cider and cheese, so take a stroll around the signed walks taking in the orchards and past the cider production area. You may also spot a few Longhorn cattle, sheep and donkeys on your walk.

If that’s not enough they also offer guided tours that take place every Saturday from March to November. You can really get lost in the world of cider here for the day!

There are an abundance of campsites locally between Taunton and Wellington and with the No. 22 bus running between the two which handily stops right outside Sheppey’s there no excuse not to visit and give the cider and good sample!

If you’re not staying in the area, it also offers a well-earned break from traveling as it’s conveniently located just off junction 26 of the M5. So perfect to break up your journey if you’re heading further south.

However, to put the cherry on top… they allow self-contained campervans/motorhomes to stop over! They require a few details (name, reg etc in advance) but are happy to provide a base for the night!

This sounds like such a little gem and we hope some of our group members will be able to visit soon!

Cheers All
